Latin American Futures Network

We bring together public and private actors who make efforts within the field of knowledge about futures, forming a continuous learning community and a relational reference on these topics at the Latin American level

History of the Network

The Latin American Futures Network was launched on November 10, 2023, driven by the National Council of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation for Development (STKI Council), in collaboration with 16 other institutions and professionals who formed the initiative's driving group.

The STKI Council is an autonomous body that advises the Presidency of Chile, and its main objective is the development and review, with a systemic and long-term perspective, of the National STKI Strategy for Development, which frames the regional strategies and the policies promoted by the State in these areas. To fulfill this legal mandate, the Council coordinates capacities from the academic, private, public, and civil society sectors to develop three lines of work: Strategy, Anticipation, and Evaluation.

Within its line of work on anticipation and prospective trend analysis, the Council periodically generates: Future Reports, Future Implications Reports for Chile, and anticipation exercises like Chile Creates Future. As a result of the proposals that emerged from the Chile Creates Future exercise developed in 2023, the initiative to establish a Latin American Futures Network was born from the Council.
