Anticipation

In futures studies, the concept of change signals refers to indications or evidence that a significant change is occurring or may occur in the future.

Change signals are used by futurists to capture and anticipate possible major transformations that could impact multiple dimensions in the next 5, 15, or even 25 years. To do this, we use the anticipatory categories employed by GESDA (2024), the STEEP+V classification also used by UNDP (2024), and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030.

The purpose of this exercise is to better prepare ourselves through resilient strategies that allow us to foresee, adapt, and project in the face of these possible changes.

Signals of Change

We seek indications or evidence that a significant change is occurring or may occur in the future. These signals can be events, weak trends, emerging technologies, or changes in people's behaviors or attitudes.
